Bitesize Prediction: Bolton vs Mansfield – 13/08/24

Market: Both teams to score

Odds: 7/10 @

Two sides who will be looking to extend on their respective EFL Cup adventures on Tuesday night, Bolton will welcome Mansfield to the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

Starting with the hosts, suffering major play-off heartbreak at Wembley back on May 18th as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat against Oxford United in north London, Ian Evatt’s side are desperate to go one-step further this time around. Signing off their pre-season preparations with a routine 3-0 romp away at Port Vale, the Trotters are certainly pencilled in as a standout promotion contender this year. Getting the new League One campaign underway last weekend with a 2-1 win away at Leyton Orient, the former Barrow boss will be looking to lay down another early marker on Tuesday night. However, with plenty of pressure on their shoulders this time around, Bolton are seeking some much-welcomed defensive resolve. Signing off the 2023/24 campaign with an action-packed 3-3 stalemate away at Peterborough, Evatt’s men have recorded just a sole clean sheet from any of their previous eight showdowns against League One opposition.

As for the visitors, enjoying what was a sensational League Two romp last season as they stormed their way to an automatic third-tier return, Mansfield have continued to receive a string of plaudits. Making a major statement last weekend as they opened up the 2024/25 campaign with a 2-1 victory away at Barnsley, Nigel Clough’s men are riding a major wave of momentum. Unbeaten in all of their seven pre-season showdowns during their summer preparations, the Nottinghamshire-based outfit have not suffered a single defeat across any competition since the start of April. Mustering 13 points from their final five League Two matchups last season and really impressing with their performances in the final third, we could be set for an enjoyable battle on Tuesday night. Playing out a five-goal thriller when they last met Bolton back in February 2021, we are expecting chances to fall at both ends of the pitch.

Bet: Both teams to score at Bolton vs Mansfield 7/10 for Tuesday s EFL Cup tie @
