Demba Ba returns to Besiktas

Shanghai Shenhua striker Demba Ba is back in Istanbul, where he is expected to officiate his loan deal back with the Turkish club.

Having returned to full fitness, the Senegalese international has decided to get back to Europe where he is expected to sign a loan deal with his former employers.

Demba Ba underwent the detailed medical exams at the Turkish club on Monday and a deal is expected to be confirmed during the final day of the January transfer market.

Bitesize Prediction: Velez Sarsfield vs Rosario – 16/05/23

Market: Rosario double chance

Odds: 17/20 @

Hoping to clinch back-to-back Primera Division victories in the early hours of Tuesday, Rosario will make the trip to Jose Amalfitani Stadium when they meet Velez Sarsfield.

Starting with the hosts, only just clinging to their Primera Division status last season, it appears that Velez Sarsfield are destined for another top-flight struggle this time around. Once again battling it out at the foot of the table, Ricardo Gareca’s men also find themselves in the midst of an extended blip. Last seen putting in another downbeat display as they suffered a 2-0 loss away at Estudiantes on May 7th, the Liniers-based outfit have failed to win any of their last seven straight Primera Division appearances a run that stems all the w…

Cardiff announce Berget arrival

Cardiff City have announced the signing of Norway forward Jo Inge Berget from Molde on a two-and-half year contract.

The 23-year-old has arrived for an undisclosed fee, having previously played under Cardiff boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the duo s home country.

Berget is Solskjaer s third signing for Cardiff, following Mats Moller Daehli and Magnus Wolff Eikrem, with all three having played for the manager as Molde won back-to-back Norwegian titles in 2011 and 2012.

Solskjaer expects Berget to add a new dimension to Cardiff s frontline and feels the player will have no problems adapting to the English game.

I’m delighted to welcome Jo to the club. He went through his medical last night and signed his contract this morning, Solskjaer told the club s official webs…

Bayern star hints at summer exit

Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has failed to rule out leaving Allianz Arena in the summer transfer window.

The 30-year-old has another year left on his deal wit the Bavarians, but seeing as he is no longer an undisputed starter, the Germany star appears to be considering his options.

Schweinsteiger has been heavily linked with a summer exit and he now admits that is a realistic possibility.

“I have agreed with Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, that we sit down together in the summer,” the midfielder told reporters after the international friendly between Germany and USA.

“I am in no hurry and have another year left on my contract. It is still early in the summer.”

Bastian Schweinsteiger is one of those players that have never left t…

Sterling comments on racism ´will be a milestone´

Raheem Sterling s comments on racism will be seen as a milestone and have already affected media reporting, according to Fare executive director Piara Power.

Manchester City attacker Sterling s decision to speak out after he was racially abused in a Premier League game at Chelsea in December 2018 was praised by the chief of Fare, an organisation dedicated to combating inequality in football.

The England international argued the way the media reports about young black players contributes to racism in society, with Powar believing the point has been taken on board.

I think what Raheem did there was very important, Powar told Omnisport.  He was racially abused at Chelsea and rather than go after the perpetrators, or focus on that incident, he knew the world had …

´We have nothing to lose,´ say Swiss

Switzerland have nothing to lose when they take on joint World Cup favourites Spain, Swiss defender Philippe Senderos said on the eve of Wednesday s match.

The Arsenal player, whose father is Spanish, added that his team could only hope to go out, remain solid at the back and cause a Spain team filled with talent and household names some problems.

Spain have a good chance (of winning the World Cup), and we will try our best to be at our best. We don t have much to lose tomorrow, but Spain has lots to lose, said Senderos.

We have to try to cause them some problems and get some points.

Spain deserve respect and after winning Euro 2008 they are one of the favourites. We re a small team and we ll go onto the pitch with the same mentality and do our best. …

Preview: Brazil – Chile

(GSM) A pair of South American rivals meet on the biggest stage of all on Monday evening as Brazil face Chile at Ellis Park in the World Cup Round of 16.

Brazil, winners of Group G ahead of Portugal, come into the game brimming with confidence despite a rather drab showing their final group game against the Portuguese.

Chile, meanwhile, looked very strong in winning its first two games before being brought back to Earth a bit by European champions Spain in their Group H finale.

In their two meetings in South American qualification, Brazil ran away with both contests.

In the first meeting in Santiago in September 2008, The Brazilians netted a 3-0 victory. In the return leg in Salvador de Bahía a year later, the Samba Boys romped to a 4-2 win.

Watford v West Brom: Flores backs new signings to flourish

An opening-day draw at Everton has given Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores plenty of cause for optimism ahead of Saturday s Premier League visit of West Brom.

Last season s Championship winners marked their return to the top flight with a creditable draw at Goodison Park – Odion Ighalo continuing his impressive goalscoring from the previous campaign.

Ighalo has scored 17 league goals in 2015 – more than any other player in the top four tiers of English football – ahead of Watford s return to Vicarage Road.

Like their visitors, Watford are seeking to remain active in the transfer market before the window shuts and are set to bring in experienced Italian Alessandro Diamanti.

The Guangzhou Evergrande forward would be the club s 11th close-s…
